“My story starts at sea, a perilous voyage to an unknown land. A shipwreck.”

Summer has always had an indescribable energy. For many, its a time of rest, relaxation, and restoration. For others, its an energy transfer, waking us up, reinvigorating our inner strength and creativity. For all, its an opportunity to get out, get active, and travel more. There's a duality to summer that we've always loved, but have never been able to capture in the right way.... until now. The Summer 2018 Collection is an expression of this energy and excitement you feel when the sun is high in the sky, the water is cool, and the horizon calls.

We decided to approach our Summer photoshoot like we approach designing a collection; we always start with color. With the Sea Green and Key Lime colors throughout the collection, we knew we needed to find a location to shoot in that would let these bright colors absolutely pop. We also knew we wanted to shoot locally here in New York because there are so many inspiring locales here. We headed for the white washed rocks on the north fork of Long Island.

While scouting the location, we were struck by the amount of debris that washes up along the coast line. It ultimately inspired us to create a deserted island vibe, where our model would become the heroine survivor of a shipwreck.

It was important to us that in this story, our heroine is not a damsel in distress waiting to be saved. In fact, quite the opposite. We were inspired by the lives of our friends, family, and customers live, and their strength that comes from within. Our heroine is all of us, a portrait of a woman that makes the most of her circumstances, and not only survives, but thrives. She can adapt. Luckily in this story, her suitcase just happened to be one of the few things to wash up intact.

“The wild waters roar and heave. The brave vessel is dashed all to pieces. And all the helpless souls within her drowned. All save one. A lady. Whose soul is greater than the ocean, and her spirit stronger than the sea’s embrace. Not for her a watery end, but a new life beginning on a stranger shore. It will be a love story. For she will be my heroine for all time. And her name will be Viola.”
